Washington DC's Yoga Rave is an unprecedented night of positive energy and exciting activities. We'll dance, practice yoga, meditate, chant, and have an all-around fun and uplifting, one-of-a-kind night. With live music from NYC's Bhakti Band and delicious vegetarian food, the Yoga Rave is sure to put you in a healthy, happy state of mind as you start off the New Year. Yoga Rave 2009: YOGA, PRANAYAMA, DANCING, MEDITATION, INTERNATIONAL CUISINE, LIVE MUSIC
YOGA: While many associate yoga with new age mysticism or the latest fad at the gym, yoga is actually an ancient practice that connects the mind, body, and spirit through body poses, controlled breathing, and deep rest. The yoga we practice at YOGA RAVE 2009 will be suitable for all body types, from the beginner to the more experienced practioner.
PRANAYAMA: Also known as the yoga of the breath, pranayama enhances the subtle life force energy of the body by using specific postures and rhytms to affect how the breath enters the system. Pranayama is most often practiced as a way to increase energy and focus.
MEDITATION: Prepare to give your mind a rest as we experience the powerful stillness of guided meditation. DANCING: An exotic blend of world music, popular music and the live music of NYC's Bhakti Band.
INTERNATIONAL CUISINE: Vegetarian and vegan cuisine from around the world will be provided. The food is guaranteed to be delicious! Learn some healthy and affordable food options that are easy to digest and easier on the environment.
What to Bring and What to Wear: Please dress in loose, comfortable apparel for Yoga Rave 2009. Jeans, skirts, and tight fitting clothing may make some of the postures and activities difficult. We also recommend that you dress in layers, as some activities might cause a change in the body temperature and the temperature of the venue. Also, bring your yoga mat if you have one.
